Tension Release

- Monday June 16th -
I've decided to come up with a blog to capture my thoughts. It seems as though other people don't really want to hear them, so I'm going to just dump them here for those who do want to see them.

The situation with Matt seems to have blown over for the most part. After gathering information from several sources, it seems like the only person really upset over the matter was Matt himself. I really don't blame him as I was out of line, but I believe that the magnitude of his emotions may have been slightly out of proportion. I can't really blame him for that either though since this whole fiasco started because of my own emotions being out of proportion. I'm sure that with time, we can work through this. I don't ever expect Matt to be a good friend of mine, but I do hope to be able to coexist in the same space with him.

This issue has brought up a lot of questions in my mind though. I honestly have no idea what people think that my belief system and moral code really is. I tried to be as open and honest as possible, willing to explain anything to people, but they seem to just not understand it.

But that is neither here nor there. Matt has taught me that it's not worth the risk and persecution to be open with anyone except for Renny anymore. If you reach out to people, they are more likely to twist your arm than try and understand you. I don't really need that anymore.

Work was pretty uneventful as usual, but Andrea (my boss for Stratcom) wasn't there, so I decided to go back to Renny's apartment early since she went home to deal with some Barr stuff. A Barr leasing agent decided that it would be a good idea to leave a vague and ominous note for Renny and Colleen while they were out to call Barr without telling them what it was about. Needless to say, Renny was pretty stressed out and I wanted to make sure that everything was okay.

It turns out that the notes were just from a nosy Barr agent named Dre who had nothing better to do than harass Renny and Colleen about the cleanliness of their apartment. He felt that because it wasn't perfectly clean, it was affecting his ability to lease the apartment. Renny was pretty pissed, but relieved at this news, so it was all good overall.

After we had some lunch and watched a little News Radio, I then went back to work and continued to have an uneventful day. After work, Renny met me outside my building underneath a tree since she happened to be in the area. It was a pleasant surprise to have before jetting off to DnD.

I then walked the block west to Bobby's apartment to my Monday Night DnD game. DnD is one of the two role playing games that I'm playing regularly this summer with a bunch of people from Belegarth. This particular campaign is being run by Iron Duck and is set on a lost continent that worships elementals. A great evil has enveloped the land (big surprise) and unbalanced the elements, causing war between the different elemental kingdoms. Our quest, as adventurers, is to find and reclaim these four artifacts with which to defeat the great evil. Yeah, I'm not going to lie, it's pretty cheesy, but it's fun and is something that I can get lost in for a few hours.

As cliche as the quest itself is, the campaign is anything but. Any campaign with Bobby and his friends in it tends to be out of the ordinary, to say the very least. To give you an idea of what I mean, allow me to give you a basic rundown of the characters we have playing.

We have Bobby, the female Druidic Mage Halfling/Celestial/Dwarf Mix. Bobby's character tries to use her sexual prowess as diplomacy checks and usually ends up killing everything from a distance without them having a chance to retaliate. He swears up and down that he's not a power gamer, but I cannot really see a single weakness in his character. If that wasn't enough, he also has hired a level twelve hill giant druid from the earth kingdom that follows us around.

There is Adam, Dwarf Warrior/Cleric. I'm sure he could do quite a bit of damage if he got close enough to hit anything. So far, I'm not sure he's hit a single thing. He spends most of his time being frustrated at the fact that in almost every battle so far, he hasn't been able to do a single thing.

And Ali, an Elf with Fae bloodline that is a Ranger. If Bobby's ranged combat doesn't take care of things first, she usually does a good job of cleaning things up. There is actually a decent amount of plot surrounding her since she became impregnated by one of the Earth Druids named Silver.

I probably play the most normal character of all, an androgynous human Cleric who believes primarily in Philosophy and has no qualms about changing gods if one decides to favor and bless him more than another. His main use is to expedite travel between place to place, stall enemies, and escape troublesome situations.

As you can probably guess, the game can get pretty crazy, but not much action usually occurs. It seems as though Bobby is always making or buying magic items while everyone else just groans and wants to continue on. When combat actually does occur, it takes forever, even though Bobby is usually the only one killing anything with his massive spells and the total number of rounds in combat is usually less than five.

At ten, I left Bobby's place and walked farther west to meet up with Renny, Ben, and Ben's Jenn at C-Street for Nekromancy, the C-Street goth night. The night started out slow, but started to pick up around eleven o'clock or so, when Ben and Renny arrived. Shortly afterwards, Erin and Crap also showed up, making the night even more fun. I got a few shots of people during the night with my new camera, but it was pretty dark (well, it was goth night.)

Most of us had an early morning to look forward to, so we all left about one in the morning, but not before Ben actually joined our dance circle and danced around some. He's actually really good, so I'm surprised that he has never really danced before.

When we got home, Renny and I pretty much passed out around two after we both had a shower and took care of our dance sweat. I knew my body was going to kill me, but I was pretty pleased with how I felt.
